#53 AT THE HEART OF IT ALL, THERE’S LOVE

Our Brides – Jaymie

Some weddings feel like poetry in motion — full of love, laughter, and quiet strength. Jaymie and Karl’s celebration at Neidpath Castle in Peebles, Scotland, was exactly that: timeless, heartfelt, and elegantly unfiltered, set against the wild beauty of the Highlands.

THE STORY

Jaymie and Karl first met through a mutual friend five years ago, crossing paths again in the most ordinary of places — a Waitrose café. What began as a small moment soon became something extraordinary.

Years later, during a family holiday in Crete, Karl proposed at sunset with their children’s help. As they walked along the beach, Jaymie looked down to see “Will you marry me?” written in the sand. Turning around, Karl was on one knee — having already asked Jaymie’s daughters, Emilie and Jessica, for their blessing earlier that week.

THE DRESS

When Jaymie arrived at Alexandra Anne, she knew more about what she didn’t want than what she did. After visiting several boutiques, nothing had felt quite right — until she met Jenny, who listened, guided, and helped her shape a completely unique vision.

Together, they blended elements from two Jesús Peiró gowns with a Love Story London jacket, creating a look that was both elegant and versatile — sleeves for October in Scotland, and the option to remove them for a softer evening feel.

“I trusted in Jenny’s faith in the vision” Jaymie said.
“When I saw the finished gown, it was everything I had hoped it would be.”

The final design captured the heart of modern bridal style — refined, minimal, and completely her.

THE MORNING

The morning of the wedding was filled with emotion and love. Having lost her dad just two days earlier, Jaymie described it as “an emotional roller-coaster — full of love, nerves, and bittersweet moments.”

Her mum, who hadn’t planned to attend, surprised her by arriving the night before. Laughter and tears flowed as her daughters and friends helped her get ready — even filming a TikTok as Storm Amy howled outside.

“It almost felt fitting,” Jaymie said. “The world was reflecting the chaos and emotion I was feeling — yet at the heart of it all, there was love.”

THE LOOK

Jaymie completed her look with Maison Sabben statement earrings and a delicate hair comb, paired with vintage-inspired hair and makeup by Caroline Stewart. Her navy Jennifer Chamandi heels — bought before she’d even found her dress — became her something blue, tying the whole look together.

Their daughters, aged 10 to 27, each chose a dress in a jewel-toned hue of their choice. Their individuality shone through, yet together they looked effortlessly coordinated — elegant, vibrant, and full of joy.

THE CEREMONY & CELEBRATION

Jaymie walked down the aisle on her eldest daughter’s arm, feeling calm, strong, and beautifully herself.

From the confetti cannons set off by adult flower boys to AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck”, the ceremony was filled with laughter and surprise — perfectly capturing the couple’s fun, free-spirited energy.

Later, the ceilidh brought joyful chaos — kilts flying, laughter echoing through the hall, and Jaymie spinning in her custom gown under the castle lights.

“It was absolute chaos in the best possible way.
“I spent most of the night with my head thrown back laughing — it was perfect.”

THE MEMORIES

The day overflowed with meaning, from her brother’s touching father-of-the-bride speech to a quiet moment when Jaymie’s best friend pinned a brooch of her dad onto her bouquet.

“Things will go wrong,” Jaymie said, “but that’s part of it. The beauty of the day isn’t in perfection — it’s in the people who are there to hold you up.”
