#36 Styling perfection at Trafalgar Warehouse

Our Brides – Lucy

This was a wedding styled to perfection; the lighting backdrop, the flowers and Lucy’s vision for how it would all come together.

Lucy’s original idea was to go for a dress of a completely different style and look. We have to say we love that she went for Nyika by Charlie Brear because it just couldn’t look more breathtaking!

Congratulations Lucy and Jody! What a beautiful day captured in stunning photos to look back on.

THE LOW-DOWN

How would you sum up the style of your wedding?

We went for a rustic, fun, autumnal vibe.

Where did you tie the knot?

Trafalgar Warehouse in Sheffield City centre on Saturday 13th November 2021.

And what was your wedding dress?

Nyika by Charlie Brear.

THE LEAD-UP

How did you two first meet?

We met through work and that’s where it blossomed.

What about the proposal? When, where, how?

It was in the comfort of our own home. Jody had styled out the downstairs with candles and rose petals. He asked me on the evening of September 13th 2020.

Lucy and Jody hold hands in the road, surrounded by 7 bridesmaids and best men. They are all waving red and orange smoke bombs.

THE DRESS

Did you have an idea of what you wanted when you first started looking for your wedding dress? And did you stick to it?

I originally dreamt of a large cinderella type of dress. Something with lace and delicate embroidery, however I went for something completely the opposite which was picked out by Jessica at the shop.

Jessica obviously knew what would suit me and got it spot on!! Can not thank her enough! It was a sleek fitting dress with draped sleeves in a plain silk material.

How did you find the whole experience of searching for the right dress?

It was all very exciting trying on so many dresses. I knew soon as I tried the “one” on and couldn’t stop thinking about it from there on!

What was it about your dress that made it ‘the one’?

The feel! 100% how I felt it in made it “the one”.

How did you feel once you’d made the big decision?

I just couldn’t wait to enjoy wearing my dream dress for a whole day!

Do you have any top tips for other brides out there shopping for their bridal gown?

Enjoy every moment of course! Don’t always try on what you think you want!

Have a feel for all styles and then you will know when you slip into “that one” Remember it’s your day so take on board opinions but it’s truly your choice for that one big day!

THE BIG DAY

Tell us more about your outfit on the day. How did you complete your look?

I added a heavily beaded belt to my dress which added a bit of sparkle - Jesus Peiro belt 6031.

I also had a heavily decorative diamond crown/headband which tied in with my belt and shoes. My hair was curled and left to hang.

And your bridesmaids?

My bridesmaids had full sequined slit dresses like the dream girls! They looked stunning!

What do you remember about the morning?

The morning of the wedding was one of my fave parts to the day! It was so chilled , relaxed with music playing, everyone having a chat while we had hair and makeup done.

The vibe was just pure positive energy as everyone was just so happy to be preparing for a fun, loving filled day ahead. It was the perfect morning lead up and I will always remember that!

Who did your hair and makeup?

Amy Ward did my beautiful hair and Chloe Gray did my stunning makeup. Both worked their absolute magic!!

Who took your wedding photos?

I was lucky enough to have the incredible Photosbyhash!

Did you follow any traditions? Or was there anything unusual about the ceremony?

I arrived with my father driving one of his Austin A35 cars.

We had a convoy of the cars behind us. My dad drove us into the wedding venue infront of all our guests and it was just a true magical moment!

How did your dress feel when you were walking down the aisle?

It made me feel so special to be wearing it infront of my husband to be. Like I said before the feeling of the dress made it a dream to wear!

THE MEMORIES

What are your favourite memories of your wedding day?

Every single thing! It truly was the best day ever!

From waking up to going to bed that evening and all the in between! All the obvious magical traditional parts were more than incredible but if I had one specific memory that made me appreciate the day would be on the evening of the wedding.

Me and my new husband went to get the evening food and sat down on our own at the top table and just looked around at everyone having the best time.

Seeing all our loved ones celebrate with us in that one day and seeing it all in that one moment from a far was extremely special to us!

What gave you the biggest laugh?

Me and my bridal squads photo shoot outside. We held up the street, cars had to stop in the middle of the road while we danced and strut to music through smoke bombs. It was ace!

What got the tears flowing?

Our very special and personal ceremony.

If there was one piece of advice you could give to a new bride-to-be, what would it be?

Everyone will give this advice but I would give it with extra importance and that would be enjoy every moment as it goes so fast!! If you think you are soaking it up then just soak it up that bit more to be sure!

And last but not least, where is your wedding dress now?

Hung up in all its glory, holding a lot of memories!
